Sharp error code
U2Memory (EEPROM) data error
🔧 Needs an engineer
What it means
The machine found an error in the data stored in its memory (EEPROM), such as counters or settings. A technician resets it with service mode.
Common causes
- EEPROM data corrupted, often after a power cut
- Faulty EEPROM chip
- Control board fault
What you can safely try
- 1Switch the machine off, wait 30 seconds and switch it on again — note whether the code comes back.
- 2If it happened while printing, cancel the job on the computer and resend it — one corrupt file can cause a controller error.
- 3Unplug the network cable and switch the machine off and on; if the code clears, the problem is a print job or the network.
- 4Take a photo of the display and note the machine model and its meter reading before you call.
⚠️ If the code comes back after a restart, stop using the machine and call an engineer — running it on can damage more parts.
